The C12 was the seventh locomotive that Aster released but the first near-scale offering for the Japanese market. It borrows heavily on the 8550 Mogul design. This locomotive was as ubiquitous on Japan's branch lines as the Pannier was in England. Some of the best photo's of this locomotive show it running end first on a passenger train run around, as was common on branch lines everywhere.
