The Spreewald model is a replica of the Tank Locomotive No. 23 built in 1917 by the Jung Company for the Pulkau Narrow-Gauge Railway Inc. In 1944, this locomotive was transferred from Pulkau to the Spreewald Railway located near the City of Cottbus where it received the designation Lok 09-27.

The Spreewald model brings us back to the times when steam engines still ruled the railways. Exactly like all the great locomotives of the past, our model is powered by steam. It is equipped with a real boiler, steam cylinder, valves, and all other characteristic features. And when this small powerful locomotive is literally under steam, you will no doubt enjoy the unmistakable sound of the rushing engine and the typical steam whistle.

The Spreewald model is delivered as a kit. All the necessary parts are in the box. Clear and specific instructions are provided to guide you through all steps of the assembly. After the completion of the fitting procedure, the fully operational engine is ready for its maiden voyage.

The assembly involves only the use of screws and takes approximately 20 hours. The necessary soldering of the boiler had already been performed by the manufacturer. The factory-tested boiler conforms to the WILESCO safety standards.

The model was constructed exclusively from non-rusting materials. The wheels of the Spreewald model were manufactured by zinc printing according to the original drafts. The super structural parts of the original locomotive were reproduced using the etching method; they are made of German silver. The scaled-down replica of the designation is based on the original locomotive's employment at the Spreewald railway network. The model is fired by gas. It can be refueled using a standard cigarette-lighter refill. After putting the locomotive on tracks, the burner is ignited by a match or cigarette lighter set to the funnel. The uninterrupted operation time amounts to approximately 20 minutes. Any stop and go regime extends the operation span accordingly.

The Spreewald steam locomotive is upgradeable. For example, the steam model can be operated by remote control with great ease and technical perfection. By remote control, you can set direction and speed or stop the engine. A particularly fascinating feature is the remote-controlled steam whistle.

An optional gas-pressure regulating valve extends the operation cycle. The adjustable regulating valve controls the gas pressure and thus adjusts the gas flame to a desirable level. As soon as the boiler pressure builds up, the valve reduces the gas supply. The dropping boiler pressure prompts an automatic opening of the valve. Such regulation guarantees the inlet of an exactly measured quantity of gas. The operation time of the locomotive is thus extended while reducing energy and water consumption.
