G1MRA Weekend
by Andrew Macpherson

Andrew just happened to be in the UK for the GIMRA meeting last weekend and captured the event for us all to enjoy.

The alter of G1 live steam worship in England, GIMRA's own Invicta Track, with some of the days participants on display while standing by for track time.

The master and the understudy, a pair of perfect Pacifics. In the center is Sir Nigel Gresley's first masterpiece, the A1 pacific. The Flying Scotsman was the third one built, and is modeled here as it is preserved today in A3 specification. Below is one his apprentice's masterpieces, O.V.S.Bullied's 'light pacific' Sir Winston Churchill.

Sunbeam, an early Victorian 2-2-2 express sprinter, with wood clad boiler.

An exquisite model of the Fury, of the two high pressure experimental locomotives run between the wars to test that technology. Seen here in Works 'Photographic Grey' livery.

A Dee spits fiercely under the steady gaze of her driver, as she gets ready for a long run on the big circuit.

The Dee flying through the Kent countryside with a fast boat train.

A midland 4-4-0 cooling off.

The Sunbeam is hooked up to some very modern looking coaches by her owner and driver for an exemplary run.

From start to finish, well almost, top row is the Victorian sisters, a 2-4-0 and the 2-2-2 Sunbeam, in the middle the last steam loco to be built by British Railways, the 9F 2-10-0 Evening Star, and below another Dee.

The unfinished prototype of Nick Dillon's seven Caledonian Railway's Lambies making light work of a rake of heavy Pullman cars. These locos hauled the West Coast expresses the final leg of their journey from Perth to Aberdeen in the great Races to North, and No 17 set a record average of 60mph over the twisty highland line. (All seven have already been spoken for)

A Barrett Jubilee takes to track under the attentive eye of her proud owner.

An LNER 4-4-0 resting after a long run.

An LMS Patriot 4-6-0 hauling a fast express.

A Bullied Light Weight Pacific in original Southern livery, with chain driven valve gear, sit below the City of Truro on the Barrett family display.

The Aster display, no surprises here, just quality as always.

Finescale's exquisite rolling stock and their stand.

The stunning J&M coaches on display their stand.

A family in steam, The Barrett's and their beautiful handiwork.
