Gauge 1 Coal Fired Locomotive
Built by David Baker
During my childhood in the south of
England there were two magnificent machine that I loved to
see. One was the giant Queen Elizabeth as she slipped
silently away from her dock in Southhampton Water, the other
was the Bournemouth Belle. I pestered any adult in sight to
be taken across the New Forest to watch the fastest express
on the Southern roar past on the long sweeping curve between
Beaulieu Road and Brockenhurst. The joy of those moments
were the reason that I asked David to build this engine.
While in the UK to pick her up I was also able to ride on,
and photograph her sister ship 35005. - Andrew
